We went over last night's homework and talked again about the fact that the denominator is determined by the number of parts that fit in a whole, so if it's 7/4 for example, the fourths stay fourths because 4 of them still fit into a whole. We then worked through lesson 21 sesson 3 on pages 479-480. We did 479 in class, and they took 480 home to do for homework after we talked about how to do it. 1. To access the pages online, go to the district portal and log in. Your username is your 9 number and your password is the same one you use for your Chromebooks at school. 2. Find i-ready. 3. We used our fraction strips to make number lines today. We also put them together to make fractions greater than one, stressing the fact that thirds still stay thirds even when there are more than 3 of them. The denominator is the number of parts that make up the whole. We then worked through Lesson 21 session 2 today. This is all about fractions on number lines. it's in workbook pages 475-476. Homework is pages 467-478. Here's a video that helps explain how to put improper fractions on a number line. I have no idea why she has a mammoth on her shoulder! 1.
