First, my apologies. I have been sick, so it's been a rough week for staying after to update the website.
Math Small Groups: 1. We did x-tra math. Go to Clever and log in with your student ID [email protected] . The password is the same password you use at school. X-tra math is on your teacher page. 2. We did i-ready for 15 minutes.. Go to Clever and log in with your student ID [email protected] . The password is the same password you use at school. 3. We reviewed what we've learned so far in morning work. Main Lesson Today we practiced measuring things to the nearest 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, and inch. 1. We got into partners and measured 10 things around the room to the nearest 1/4 inch. 2. We then measured 10 things to the nearest 1/2 inch. 3. Finally, we measured 10 things to the nearest inch. Then we discussed which is the most accurate, which is the easiest, and which we preferred. There is no homework tonight. ELA Phonics: Here's the spelling packet for the week: We're working on the ow spelling, making 2 sounds: long o like crow, and when then changing into ow like crown. Words Cover Comprehension: We are almost finished with our candy opinion papers. Today we started reading this article: We finished the first page. Grammar and Writing: We reviewed what we've learned so far in grammar during morning work We practiced writing complete sentences. We practiced subordinating conjunctions and complex sentences We reviewed the structure for opinion writing, using OREO. Fluency: We worked on 6 minute solution, a quick reading practice where we read paragraphs we already know for one minute and see if we can read them faster than we did the day before. We are just training our eyes to move faster across the page, not actually trying to read this quickly in real life. Science: We're learning about 3.2.4 How our traits can help us survive Today we started learning about Rock Pocket Mice. Go to Google Classroom. Log in to Google and click on Google Classroom. You'll find the Rock Pocket Mice Slideshow under science. Today we did slides 1-7. You'll need a piece of paper and a die. When you get to slide 7, you'll roll the die 7 times to see what traits your rock pocket mouse will inherit from its parents. Each time you roll the die, write down the trait. Monday you will use that list to accurately draw your rock pocket mouse.

Here's a video that teaches it. We're working on planning our next story, but it's not really one that can be worked on from home. Science on 2/5 we went over our 6 puppies that might have come from the two dogs we looked at last week. We looked at all sorts of combinations of curly and long tail length, masked and not masked, a white tuxedo chest and not white tuxedo chest short legs long legs tall pointy ears floppy ears. We decided that there were MANY more combinations than just six. That's why siblings are so different! We also looked at a lot of our family photos to see what traits we have in common with our siblings and whether we got those traits from our moms or dads. on 2/6 we took a test. First we looked a cute puppy. Then we compared the puppy's traits to different adult dogs. Finally, we figured out which adult dogs the puppy had the most traits in common with. Those are probably its parents. We then explained our conclusions with evidence. . . explained what data we discovered. That's the test. Here's the link to work on it. |
The Plan. . .My plan is to list what we did each day and the homework for each night on this page. That way you can just click on the date to see the day's entry. I will do my very best to update this daily! Archives
